Yes - totally agree. I’m working on a UI refactor right now that will
fix that.

Progress dialogs in general are out of favor in GNOME UI guidelines. So
I’m trying to remove them and rely on inline feedback controls, which
will give control back to the main window to be minimized or closed.

  Cannot minimize while backing up

  While the app is backing up, it pops up a smaller window in front of
  the main one, which greys out the main one. The minimize button won't
  work, forcing me to leave it open on my monitor for hours while the
  backup is ongoing.
