This was fixed by checking in the stylesheets hash-table whether the file has already been imported before attempting to import it again. [ Test Case 1 ] 1. Install the extension https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/602/window-list/ 2. Enable the "Window List" extension 3. Disable the "Window List" extension 4. Enable the "Window List" extension again 5. Verify that GNOME Shell didn't crash 6. Verify that the "Window List" panel is visible at the bottom of the screen [ Test Case 2] 1. Install the extension https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/602/window-list/ 2. Enable the "Window List" extension 3. Lock the screen 4. Unlock the screen 5. Verify that GNOME Shell didn't crash 6. Verify that the "Window List" panel is visible at the bottom of the screen [ Where problems could occur ] GNOME Shell provides the GNOME desktop UI, and thus is a critical component of Ubuntu Desktop. A bug introduced by this patch would manifest with missing graphical elements, or the desktop crashing and logging out the user.
