I happened to try another computer (HP Laptop 17-cn0xxx [i5-1135G7]) using a Plucky live image. It also does not show the brightness control in the menu. This computer's keyboard does have brightness keys and after pressing one of them the brightness control appears in the menu.
Edit: And on this computer the brightness control is present (without pressing any keys) when booting to a 24.10 live image. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2105397 Title: No brightness control in system menu Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: Dell XPS 13 9380 Intel i3-8145U This computer does not show the brightness control in the GNOME system menu (upper right). This the case in the up-to-date Plucky install and when booted to the latest Plucky live image. It does show up when I boot to a 24.10 live image. And I'm fairly certain it was present when I first tried Plucky live and when I installed. The log reports I used the image from 2025-03-16.
