They need to be completely deleted because disabling is voluntary and
buggy extensions can still cause problems when disabled.

  Hi, I run Ubuntu development 25.04 and suddenly the session crashed:
  first mouse was blocked and screen freezed, only radio sound was still
  running, then screen became all black, after with some message errors,
  and waiting 1 minute before the computer stopped.
