Thanks for helping Svin, really appreciated.

I extended the logging patch and just tried the result in the build
machine instead of the one I write from, and voila, there I do get the
bug and the log says:

--->

Where lp.com was the bogus site search I added myself and the Google one
was supposedly pre-populated. That says that the check
'expected_hash.size() != hash_size()' is being entered, causing the
entry to be marked as invalid and thereafter deleted. I'll pass this on
to upstream in the provided bug report.

Title:
  site search configuration lost

Status in chromium-browser package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
I have many "site searches" configured, for shortcuts such as:
  - pkg: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/%s
  - excuses:
https://ubuntu-archive-team.ubuntu.com/proposed-migration/update_excuses.html#%s
  - code: https://code.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/%s

And many others. These are being lost over time, and I can't tell what
is causing it. In the span of a week, I lost them twice, and had to
  reconfigure them again.
