Not Seeing Wired Connection On Startup Status in “network-manager-applet” package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: When bootup to a wired DSL connection, Ubuntu (Network Manager?) does not show the wired connection active. One has to disconnect manually in Network manager, then reconnect to access the internet. What happens on bootup is that the Ethernet light on the DSL modem goes out on the login splash screen and does not re-light up (which is what it should do). This was a fresh install of 10.04. With the original kernel (2.6.32-34) this was a problem. When we updated to later kernels, the problem disappeared, so I figured it was a kernel problem. However, with the update to the 2.6.32-38 generic kernel just tonight the problem has re-appeared. So I suspect somehow it's related to the kernel. This is a friend's computer that I help them maintain, and I will provide any documentation the developers request, but it may take a day or so for me to get back over here.
