Public bug reported: On Ubuntu 24.10 beta, the new GNOME Camera app (gnome-snapshot) crashes when I try to launch it. I had tried to launch via the terminal to gain additional info, it shows one of two errors "Segmentation fault" or "Aborted". Attached is a screen recording that demonstrates this issue.
It is worth noting that in earlier versions of the beta, the app worked fine - it is around now that this issue occurs. Also, the Flatpak version of the app works fine as well even on the current version of the beta. Please look into this issue, as even on earlier versions of Ubuntu I've been having different issues with this Camera app. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 24.10 Package: gnome-snapshot 47~beta-2ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 6.11.0-8.8-generic 6.11.0 Uname: Linux 6.11.0-8-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.30.0-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 CasperMD5CheckResult: unknown CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME Date: Tue Oct 8 19:15:30 2024 ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.UTF-8 PATH=(custom, no user) SHELL=/bin/bash TERM=xterm-256color XDG_RUNTIME_DIR=<set> SourcePackage: gnome-snapshot UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: gnome-snapshot (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug oracular wayland-session ** Attachment added: "Screencast From 2024-10-08 19-21-19.mp4" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2083947/+attachment/5825968/+files/Screencast%20From%202024-10-08%2019-21-19.mp4 ** Summary changed: - GNOME Camera crashes with a segmentation fault + GNOME Camera crashes with a segmentation fault on Ubuntu 24.10 beta -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-snapshot in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2083947 Title: GNOME Camera crashes with a segmentation fault on Ubuntu 24.10 beta Status in gnome-snapshot package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: On Ubuntu 24.10 beta, the new GNOME Camera app (gnome-snapshot) crashes when I try to launch it.
