I too am affected by this bug and I'm migrating later than all these other 4 months since the last post. Yet, I'm in this predicament.
snap info thunderbird shows I'm running: installed: 128.1.0esr-1 (507) 156MB - Starting thunderbird after first install it created a new profile. Deleted that one, rsync'd my old .thunderbird folder to ~/snap/thunderbird/common/.thunderbird then tried to start it again. Instead I got an odd looking error in a terminal window (see strange error screenshot). I then restarted thunderbird in safe mode and selected 'reset toolbars and controls' and then clicked 'make changes and restart.' This allowed thunder bird to load. However, although I can see my folder structure, there are no emails (see missing email screenshot). Looks like I cannot attached more than one item per comment. It looks like I'm being forced to download gigabytes of email again even though it all exists locally. Another odd error I see in the console is this one: [GFX1-]: glxtest: libpci missing How is it that self contained application is missing something? Isn't the whole premise of snaps to avoid this? I've seen other threads where a user is being asked to install the missing library into their system - how is this different than a .deb package? Interestingly, on my system, I already have that library installed: $ > dpkg -l libpci* Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold | Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend |/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad) ||/ Name Version Architecture Description +++-===================-================-============-================================= ii libpci3:amd64 1:3.10.0-2build1 amd64 PCI utilities (shared library) ii libpciaccess0:amd64 0.17-3build1 amd64 Generic PCI access library for X ** Attachment added: "Strange Error" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thunderbird/+bug/2056434/+attachment/5811731/+files/Screenshot%20from%202024-09-01%2013-43-51.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to thunderbird in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/2056434 Title: Thunderbird profile not migrated to snap Status in thunderbird package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Today's update installed the thunderbird snap and removed the thunderbird binary but it did not migrate my thunderbird profile. Now I don't have access to any old mails anymore. Looking at ~/.thunderbird: $ cat profiles.ini [Profile1] Name=default IsRelative=1 Path=ao6t0qef.default Default=1 [InstallFDC34C9F024745EB] Default=ji04wv64.default-release Locked=1 [Profile0] Name=default-release IsRelative=1 Path=ji04wv64.default-release [General] StartWithLastProfile=1 Version=2 ji04wv64.default-release is the folder that should have been migrated.
