Windows not respecting dock boundary

Bug description:
Context:
Fresh installation of 22.04 amd64 on Dell XPS13, running on Intel, Wayland
session.
Behavior observed:
Application windows often stop respecting the boundary of the dock and
suddenly invade its space (since the dock is slightly transparent I can see
which application it is that is doing so, but haven't seen a pattern yet). The
scenario is that application windows are maximized, thus the dock should be the
boundary on one of the four sides of an opened application depending on where
the dock is placed.
Alternatives tried:
Moved dock from left to bottom, no change.
Why is this a problem:
Applications in a maximized state should not be partially hidden by a system
UI element until explicitly configured as such (e.g. with a UI config option
that the dock is "in the front" and apps in the back).
Sorry for the non technical description, I hope it helps to narrow it
down. It is one of the hand full of annoying little things noticed
upon launch day.
