If you were to click, "Name", "Size" or "Last modified", it would sort by them. However, if you enter into a sub directory and then return to the parent directory, firefox forgets the sorting selection previously chosen. I expect the sorting selection to remain the same throughout browsing all files until the user selects another method of sorting.
