When using Ubuntu 22.04, gedit 41.0-3 I changed a file using another text editor. When switching back to gedit I saw a prompt indicating that the text file had changed. There was no need to switch to another gedit tab and back again. Test conducted successfully several times. Closing as "Fixed Released" as this might have been an issue with gedit some eight years ago when Unity was the desktop environment. ** Changed in: gedit (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gedit in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1330241 Title: The "file changed on disk" alert does not show up unless you switch tab Status in gedit package in Ubuntu: Fix Released Bug description: Open a file in gedit swicth to some other program, and modify the file that is open in Gedit switch back to gedit Expected: the "file changed on disk" alert should show up, and prompt you whether to reload the file or keep editing Observed: that doesn't happen until you switch to another tab in gedit and switch back to the tab where that file is open. If you don't have several tabs open, you will NEVER be warned that the file has been changed!!!! This is HUGE.
