I'm unsure if the synaptic driver is still of interest for some users and if we should conflict on it which would remove the ability to use it and control the settings from the cmdline. The settings could display some more informative text as 'the controls don't work with xserver-xorg-input-synaptics, uninstall it to have working settings'
