Testing Ubuntu Unity Impish ISO, I've just realized that touchpad click doesn't work either, although installing xserver-xorg-input-synaptics helped with that. Touchpad can be configured as expected (additional checkboxes appeared), the mouse cannot, though. Installing x-x-i-mouse did not help either.

Whenever the slider's position is moved, the "speed" key in "org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.mouse" gsettings schema updates accordingly, however the "libinput Accel Speed (290)" property does not. It stays at 0. Manually setting a value to this property (xinput --set-prop device property value) has an immediate effect. This setting works as expected during a GNOME session.
