Confirmed in 21.04. @Tudor, Alt+F2 r will remove the icon from the launcher until this bug is squashed.
It appears that the icon permanence occurs when I eject using the physical button on the drive as opposed to right-clicking and selecting "Eject" or by running the eject command at the CLI, both of which successfully removed the CD icon. I noticed this issue due an old game CD with redbook audio. When Ubuntu notices that disc, it actually produces two icons on the launcher, one is an audio CD, the other is the data disc. The Audio CD icon will not eject the disc when you right click and select that option. There appears to be no response. If you use the physical eject button on the drive, the audio CD icon will disappear but the data disc icon remains until a reset of the desktop with Alt+F2 r. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-shell-extension-ubuntu-dock in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1856032 Title: Removable media icon stays on the dock after eject.
