_onShowAppsButtonToggled. The broken opacity/hide logic is under:

Since the bug is unique to dash-to-dock/ubuntu-dock it looks likely any
fix will go in there. I don't yet see anything to fix in mutter or
gnome-shell.

Bug description:
Click on 'Show Applications' the icons of the applications appear but the
windows of the applications does not disappear so the icons are hidden.
problem happens with both sessions Xorg and Wayland after last updates
