Title:
When going into standby, DP monitor emits horrible noises via attached
speakers
Status in alsa-driver package in Ubuntu:
Expired
Bug description:
I am using a Thinkpad T410s with a Dell 2711 connected via
DisplayPort. Attached to the monitor, there is my speakers that I can
use to listen to music that is transmitted via DisplayPort (or HDMI).
Starting with Ubuntu 12.04, Ubuntu can transmit audio via DP.
However, when going into standby - either via inactivity timeout or
via closing the lid - I hear horrible sound garbage.
This is quite loud and can possibly damage speakers and/or ears,
depending on the sound level of whatever I heard before.
