Title:
  gnome-bluetooth doesn't recognize dongle

Status in “gnome-bluetooth” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: gnome-bluetooth

When I plug in my USB bluetooth dongle the led starts blinking, but the
bluetooth icon does not appear on the panel.
If I open bluetooth-preferences from the menu, it says "no device connected"
(or something similar, I am translating from Italian).
Ater searching on the web, I did a chmod 666 /dev/rfcomm: now I instead have
a big button saying "Turn on bluetooth", but clicking that will do nothing.

The dongle works, as I tested it on Windows and also on Ubuntu,
"hcitool scan" correctly finds my cellphone.

IIRC I had this problem also with Lucid.

My dongles is branded "eXagerate", lsusb says its a "Bus 002 Device
002: ID 0a12:0001 Cambridge Silicon Radio, Ltd Bluetooth Dongle (HCI
  mode)"
