Not allowing changing the search view columns is an upstream UI decision
and not a bug, feel free to open a bug on
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/nautilus/issues if you want discuss with
upstream about that though

Title:
  "location" column shows up automatically in search

Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
  When searching from within nautilus "location" column gets
  automatically appears, and automatically disappers when you close
  search

  Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open a nautilus window by clicking on the launcher icon.
  2. Navigate to root directory (computer) or a mounted volume on a different 
hard drive.
  3. Switch to "view items as list" and click search button
  4. Remove "location" from column list by right clicking on a column name and 
de selecting "location", if it is selected
  5. Now search for any file e.g. "xls" file or "deb".

  What happens:

  1. The "location" column automatically appears as soon as it starts to search 
for files.
  2. And the "location" colunmn automatically dissapers when you remove the 
search term or close search (by clicking on search button).

  What should happen:

  Only columns i have pre-seleced should appear in the search window.

  
  system info: ubuntu 14.04 LTS, files 3.10.1
