Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to
look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some
time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time.
Your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates.
It would help us a lot if you could test on a currently supported Ubuntu
version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the
updated logs by running only once in a terminal:
apport-collect 1381596
and add any additional information that you think relevant.
Alternatively, please confirm that this is no longer a problem and that
we can close the report. If we do not hear from you the bug report will
close itself in approximately two months time.
Thank you again for helping make Ubuntu better.

Title:
Firefox misbehaves to open mailto URIs
Status in firefox package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
==== How to reproduce.
1. Define firefox as default email client (I uninstalled kmail, so now I have
"firefox %u") in Settings-->Preferred applications-->Email)
2. Open a webpage with a "mailto" link. I used
http://software.schmorp.de/pkg/libeio.html (see at the bottom).
3. Click on a "mailto" link.
==== Current behaviour.
Firefox quickly opens tens of new empty tabs. I needed to open a local VTY
(CTRL-ALT-F1) to run "killall -9 firefox" as killing the application on the "X"
button was not working.
==== Expected behaviour.
I have no idea. But the above behaviour is not the one we need.
I would like to have my GMail webpage opened to compose a message to the
intended recipient.
