Now I am keeping the same error message, but "xdg-screensaver suspend"
does suspend the screen saver.  I don't know what possibly have caused
the change, between the time I filed the report and now I installed
several packages but they are normally unrelated to screensavers...
Anyhow you can close the bug (or tell me how to find out the packages I
installed in between, so that I uninstall them and make another test).

  xdg-screensaver suspend doesn't work in Ubuntu 16.04

  New

Bug description:
  1) The version of Ubuntu I am using is 
  cat /etc/issue Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS \n \l

  2) The package version is 1.1.1-1ubuntu1.16.04.3

  
  3) The expected behavior of the command

  xdg-screensaver suspend 0x3a00010
  (here 0x3a00010 is a window ID of an existing window)
  shoud keep the screen saver from starting while that window is open.

  4) The actual behavior

  The screen saver starts after certain time of inactivity.  I also get
  an error message

  org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.gnome.SessionManager 
wa
  s not provided by any .service files
