Public bug reported:

If you try to uninstall Steam using Ubuntu Software, only the steam-
installer metapackage is removed, not the actual steam package. This
issue is caused by GNOME Software that unfortunately does not support
uninstallation of unneeded dependencies. It would be great if this issue
could be somehow workarounded.
