the log has

"Dec 06 20:41:51 hostname /usr/lib/gdm3/gdm-x-session[4631]: (II) config/udev:
Adding input device Lid Switch (/dev/input/event0)
Dec 06 20:41:51 hostname /usr/lib/gdm3/gdm-x-session[4631]: (II) No input
driver specified, ignoring this device.
Dec 06 20:41:51 hostname /usr/lib/gdm3/gdm-x-session[4631]: (II) This device
may have been added with another device file."

unsure if that's the issue though

could you provide those details

- the output of "systemd-inhibit --list"

- edit /etc/xdg/autostart/org.gnome.SettingsDaemon.Power.desktop and
change the exec line to look like

Exec=/usr/libexec/gsd-power -v

log out and back in again (or reboot) and then reproduce this. After a
failed attempt attach the full output of 'journalctl -b' to this report.

Title:
Laptop doesn't suspend on lid close

Status in gnome-shell package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
Laptop is Thinkpad T450. On previous releases of Ubuntu I would close
the lid to suspend it. 17.10 doesn't suspend on lid close, which has
caused my laptop to overheat in my bag a couple of times.

I have installed tweak tool and made sure the power section toggle
switch is on. But it makes no difference. I have also tried rebooting,
flipping the toggle back and forth, and still nothing.

Should I see a key change somewhere in dconf-editor once I flip the switch?
Does suspend work for others, on the T450?
