This is fixed in 2.36.10-2. We can sync that version from Debian

Title:
Artful-proposed: gdk-pixbuf breaks tiff file visibility
Status in gdk-pixbuf:
Unknown
Status in gdk-pixbuf package in Ubuntu:
Fix Committed
Bug description:
After upgrading the package gdk-pixbuf to 2.36.10-1 (artful-proposed) the
tiff files cannot be opened any more.
For example Eye of Gnome claims the file type tiff is unknown.
Downgrading to the artful release version 2.36.5-3ubuntu1 solves the issue
and tiff's are OK.
