Wayland will not work with my adm video.

Bug description:
Am running ubuntu gnome 17.10 up to date on a HP laptop, with amd
redeon video. When trying to log into gnome all I get is a black
screen and then back to log in screen. Have to log into gnome x. All
I have read and seen is that wayland will work on amd.
