Chris and Chow, this issue seems irrelevant to Banshee anyway (as evidenced by the bug being Invalid in Banshee). It is an issue with the U1 Music Store itself, and will need to be fixed regardless of which player is the default in Ubuntu.

At the bottom of the Paypal payment screen, the option is to cancel the transaction and return to 7digital, who are the providers of music to Ubuntu One. I would suggest keeping the navigation bar, found in every other area of the Ubuntu One store, in place during the Paypal transactions.
