Aaron, thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to
make Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this
does not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting
it to a question in the support tracker.

We understand the difficulties you are facing, but it is better to raise
problems you are having in the support tracker at
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are uncertain if they are
bugs.

You can also find help with your problem in the support forum of your
local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/ or asking at
http://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org. For help on reporting
bugs, see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs.

In any case, in order to help resolve your problem we need much more
information such as error messages and what (terminal) commands or
applications you are using to "update the GUI to GTK".

** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => ubuntu

** Changed in: ubuntu
       Status: New => Invalid

Title:
GTK and possibly KDE were very upset with each other

Status in Ubuntu:
  Invalid

Bug description:
I was trying to update the GUI to GTK but I think some KDE got in
there inadvertently. This happened to me a little bit ago as well I
was able to recover with an install disk once, but there was one time
that compiz went so sideways I had to dump the whole image.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Luckinly I haven't
rebooted yet. I may still be able to dig these packages out by hand.
