Diagnostics: enter sane-find-scanner as user at command prompt. note line: found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8, product=0x0849) at libusb:001:003 type "scanimage -L" at command prompt. returns No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different... To get scanner working, Follow series of commands by Kaho on ubuntuforums (as noted above) add these lines to /etc/sane.d/epson.conf usb 0x4b8 0x849 usb /dev/usbscanner0 usb /dev/usb/scanner0 and add these lines to /etc/udev/rules.d/45-libsane.rules # Epson Stylus SX200 SYSFS{idVendor}=="04b8", SYSFS{idProduct}=="0849", MODE="664", GROUP="scanner" Reboot machine. Go into Applications->Graphics->Xsane Image scanning program Note scanner works.
