If simple-scan is unable to load the cached data it should give the user the option to abandon the cached auto-save data on successive attempts. Currently it just tries and crashes repeatedly due to lack of memory. At a minimum: Console output indicating an attempt to load the cache and its location would've been helpful in solving the issue.
