Title:
  Gnome Keyring forgets password

Status in gnome-keyring package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  Description of Problem

On entering the incorrect password, Gnome Keyring appears to reset the REAL
password as
all subsequent entries of the correct password give an "incorrect password"
error.

  Steps to reproduce this bug

Install Ubuntu MATE .... and MEMORISE Password
Use for months ... confirming that I know my password
Login one day using correct password ... (confirming, once again that I know
my password)
Do stuff, go away and allow system to sleep ...
Enter my partner, assumes we're running MS Windows and enters Incorrect (MS
Windows) Password at password prompt - System provides appropriate "incorrect
password error" dialog.
Enter CORRECT password at password prompt - receive "incorrect password
error" dialog despite password being correct.

  Repeat ad nauseum.

Please remember, the problem is not that the USER has forgotten the
password, but KEYRING has forgotten it.

I have searched the web and followed the "usual advice" to delete the
"login.keyring" file and enter a new password when prompted.
However, on rebooting system doesn't ask for a new password but simply
prompts for an (UNKNOWN) password.
Checking the home directory shows "login.keyring" file has been recreated.

  NOTE:
kdewallet has always exhibited the same behaviour from its inception until I
abandoned KDE with the release of KDE 4.
While I have no idea whether kdewallet was ever fixed, Gnome has always
worked seamlessly until now (to the extent that I didn't even know Keyring
existed until I started researching this bug)
Gnome (and I include MATE here) has previously seemed to "work as intended"
in this area
