strace shows that a "sudo" child process hangs on reading fd 8, which points to /dev/tty. Seems like an error in the code calling sudo. Really frustrating that if calling hp-plugin interactively with sudo, it only lectures me that I shouldn't call it with root privileges and quits. Bummer! So => manual install. AGAIN like in 15.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to hplip in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1502578 Title: HPLIP plugin installer hangs forever Status in hplip package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Ubuntu 15.10 Wily Werewolf The plugin needed for the scanner included with my HP CM1415fn MFP cannot be installed. The plugin installer hangs just after I did accept the terms and never returns. There is no difference whether that was started from hp-setup, hp-toolbox or hp-plugin. Please note, that hp-plugin must not be started as root anymore; it just prints an error message then. Aso hp-plugin-ubuntu does not work at all anymore just because of that reason. From the log below you can see that download of the plugin works OK but installation hangs forever.
