This bug does not apply anymore to Ubuntu 15.10 or Ubuntu 16.04. After right-clicking on the desktop, nothing happens except the Places-Menu to disappear.

Steps to reproduce: 1. Click on the Places menu; 2. Right-click somewhere on the desktop; The context menu of the "Menu Bar" appears, instead of the Places menu disappearance. After that, the Places menu stays visible until the mouse gets over Applications or System. This bug was reproduced on two Edgy machines and one Dapper machine.
