Public bug reported:

Hi all,

To reproduce:
1. Open gedit (Ubuntu 11.10)
2. Go to Tools->Manage External Tools... (you must have gedit-plugins installed)
3. Add a new tool (press the "+" button below the list of tools)
3. Press the "..." button right to the Applicability list
4. A "filetypes" list appears

 - Sometimes (most of the time) list items cannot be selected (i.e., the list
is useless).
 - Other times you can actually select some list items, but the list itself
doesn't disappear until you exit gedit!

Additionally, there is no way to change the default name "new tool" of
your new tool! :)

** Affects: gedit-plugins (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
