In journalctl I see these interesting lines. Might be relevant:

Title:
  Activation of org.freedesktop.UDisks2 timed out

Status in gnome-disk-utility package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  I am unable to manage my disks. When I try so via command line I get
  this timeout error

  $ gnome-disks
  (gnome-disks:4229): GNOME-Disks-ERROR **: Error getting udisks client: Error
calling StartServiceByName for org.freedesktop.UDisks2:
GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.TimedOut: Activation of
org.freedesktop.UDisks2 timed out
  [1]    4229 trace trap (core dumped)  gnome-disks

  Something is wrong on my Ubuntu 15.04 machine. Even when I slot in an
  USB stick it won't always recognize it. Sometimes it does after a
  reboot.

  Any ideas what this could be?
