I tried out Libreoffice Writer using Kubuntu and Gnome Ubuntu (15.04 live usb demos). Both of those distros have very clear contrast for the Close Preview button.

My colleagues told me (via Skype text chat) to look for a button called "Close Preview" but I couldn't find it. Much hilarity ensued. As far as I was concerned, there was no button with that name. Eventually, a colleague sent me a screenshot of his LibreOffice (on Mac OS X) to show me where the button was. Navigating by the Print, Full Screen, and spell-check buttons, I discovered that there IS a "Close Preview" button after all, but it's so pale I simply hadn't seen it. The button is NOT in a disabled state - it gains a button outline when the pointer hovers over it, and is clickable. But it's too pale to read; in fact I didn't spot it at all until I knew where to look. It's paler than the disabled buttons in the row above (spell-check, table tool). It's even paler than the toolbar separator line. It turns out the text colour is #DFDFDF on a #F2F2F2 background. This would not be considered sufficient contrast for text on a website. http://snook.ca/technical/colour_contrast/colour.html#fg=DFDFDF,bg=F2F2F2 So far, I have only noticed the problem with the Close Preview button in Writer. I don't know if it affects other parts of the LibreOffice suite. This is my first time reporting a bug in Ubuntu (yay!) but I'm unclear how to classify it. I tried the "Select Package" dialog, but it said no items matched "LibreOffice Writer". Searching for "LibreOffice" told me there were too many matches. Hopefully we can assign it to the right package later. It's quite possible this should be filed against a different package (perhaps a GTK theme?), or referred upstream to the LibreOffice project.
