Public bug reported: My Huawei E173 modem is not recognized as a modem anymore after installing Ubuntu 15.04 and Mainline kernel 4.0 RC6. It worked out of the box with Ubuntu 14.10.
I tried various guides (editing /etc/modules and /lib/udev/rules.d/40-usb_modeswitch.rules) but none of them worked. I finally stumbled upon a script (https://gist.github.com/rehno- lindeque/4500517) that made the modem usable (recognized by Network Manager) The downside is, I have to run the script every time i plug the modem in, would like a permanent solution. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Package changed: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu) => ubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to gnome-terminal in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1441285 Title: Huawei E173 not recognized as a modem Status in Ubuntu: New Bug description: My Huawei E173 modem is not recognized as a modem anymore after installing Ubuntu 15.04 and Mainline kernel 4.0 RC6.
