  Can not add printer in Ubuntu GNOME 13.10

Status in system-config-printer package in Ubuntu:

Bug description:
  Trying to add a printer via the printers section of the setting pages
  always fails with a "can not add new printer" pop up message. Does
  work however if you run system-config-printer directly on the command
  line as described in the forum thread
