Title:
USB mass storage not automatically mounted

Status in “nautilus” package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: nautilus

This appears to be the case for every USB drive without exception and
regardless of format. The drive will appear in Disk Utility and can be mounted
from there or from the command line, but it is not mounted automatically and
doesn't show up in the "Places" menu or the nautilus sidebar until I've mounted
it.
I'm filing this under nautilus because udisks is definitely detecting the USB
drive when it's plugged in but nautilus isn't getting the signal

I'm unsure what release of Ubuntu to say I'm using: just used the
update utility to upgrade to maverick, all my apt sources say
maverick, "apt-get update" and "apt-get upgrade" say I'm up to date
but "lsb_release -rd" says I'm still on lucid
