My workaround has been to activate sleep, and then turn the computer back on; then the keyboard input ends up in the greeter. The reason why this is a security issue: After the workaround and logging in keyboard input is present in the program I have running e.g. intellij. In ther words, my password is there in cleartext on screen. Had that been a chat client I would have sent my password to the other party.
