I have the final released Trusty and am getting this error in VirtualBox
too.  I install the VirtualBox tools that usually make the video much
faster, restart the VM, and then upon starting, the above described
error is thrown and the video continues to be extremely slow - window
fade outs, etc.  I have told the crash reporter to send the crash
information, so somewhere out there is my crash information, but it
looks very similar to what is posted here.  I'd like this to be higher
than medium priority since ubuntu is quite unusable in a VM with this
crashing and slowing the graphical interface down to a crawl.

  I installed Quantal Alpha 2 as a virtual machine in VirtualBox, and restarted 
the machine after first updating (it was partial upgrade).
  And then suddenly the crash occurred as soon as the desktop finished loading.
  I did not do any operations like moving pointing device or hitting keyboard.
