Bug description:
Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel
I have upgraded my Dell Inspiron 1525 from Jaunty to Karmic (I still have a
Jaunty installation on another partition).
The Karmic Live DVD works absolutely fine with my display.
However, in my upgraded Karmic partition I have been unable to obtain a
usable X display.
Immediately on startup X goes blank and seems to freeze.
I have tried with the failover config, with no config, with vesa config, all
to no avail
I have also run X directly with -logverbose 9 -verbose 9 to test. I can ssh
into the machine but it sometimes freezes after starting X so that my ssh
session dies (although at least once it was still pingable)
I noticed that in /var/log/gdm/:0.log there are errors about MTRR, and that
there is a difference between /proc/mtrr on jaunty and karmic, and also that
lspci -vv returns different information on Jaunty and Karmic
I will attach some of the logs I currently have...
