OK, so experimental VDPAU support was actually added in GStreamer Bad
Plug-ins 0.10.14, supporting MPEG2, MPEG4 and H.264. It was improved a
lot in Gstreamer 1.2. Ubuntu 13.10 "Saucy Salamander" currently has
gst-plugins-bad1.0 version 1.2.0-3ubuntu5 and Ubuntu 14.04 "Trusty Tahr"
currently has gst-plugins-bad1.0 version 1.2.3-1ubuntu2. VDPAU support
will be further improved in Gstreamer 1.4 which is due out in March or
April this year - see
