The problem came up again. No matter what I have done.
Is there anything else to try?
Instead of my sound card at the "audio adjustments" it says "virtual audio

  0000:80:01.0: spurious response

Status in “alsa-driver” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
sometimes it's all ok. Other times ubuntu does not recognise the sound
card so there is no sound at all. I reboot the system and sometimes
sound card is recognised (so i have sound) and fewer times does not
-again- recognise the sound card (so I have not sound at all) and I
have to reboot again and again untill somehow(??) the sound card is
  recognised.
