Title:
  version mismatch causes ibus-pinyin malfunction

Status in “ibus-pinyin” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  The problem described here
  https://code.google.com/p/ibus/issues/detail?id=1689 is caused by the
  version mismatch.

My Mint system is installed from the Debian repository, and I have
both 1.4.X and 1.5.X installed at the same time: ibus-1.5.3-6ubuntu2.1
and ibus-pinyin-1.4.0-2ubuntu2, which, according to the statement from
  ibus developers, doesn't work.

So currently ibus-pinyin is broken on all Debian-based systems.

Please either bring ibus down to 1.4 or ibus-pinyin up to 1.5
