I would like to get unity back or an alternate menu system so that I can access
my menus (even of the applications) again.
Now even in normal login lightdm session=ubuntu I don't have menu, launcher and
dash.

Starting panel but without launcher and menus:

Title:
Flickering screen on mouse movement on RV370 [Radeon X300/X550/X1050
  Series] on 13.10 Ubuntu

Status in “lightdm” package in Ubuntu:
  New

Bug description:
  What happens:
On the normal login screen and thereafter the desktop the screen would
flicker often when the mouse or windows are moved.

I use Ubuntu profile (not flashback like previous bug report - Please
  see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lightdm/+bug/1250729 ).

  Work around - sort of:
A way around it is to select Advanced option during boot and then recovery
mode and then continue to normal login.
Then I don't experience flickering but also no gnome-panel and unity and dash
and app Launcher. I have to start gnome-panel and any apps from Ctrl-Alt-t
terminal.

info (from lshw) and what more can I give you?
