After the requested reboot, sound was gone and 1366x768 screen preset was lost. When I tried using Movie Player, the time index would race through with no output on sound files in seconds, and video fast forwarded silently at @ 4X normal. Trying to reinstall the AMD/ATI proprietary drivers had no effect, and today's upgrade to 12.10 only made matters worse. The screen is running in VESA mode, apparently, and I have no Unity Launch bar or even the top menu bar to try logging out and reentering in 2d or classic Gnome. Since you still have no open source HDMI A/V combined drivers, I must use the AMD Catalyst drivers, but only up to where they still support my onboard A/V. Something changed on the latest kernel revision, and I hope you patch it quickly before 14.04 is released. I don't want to lose everything I've installed by formatting then reinstalling 12.04 fresh from my CD.
