Griffin Shoemaker, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't
been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
  CRTC Error 72 Message

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-nouveau” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
After my most recent update to ubuntu (earlier today), I booted up the
system, which gave me an error message

"Could not apply the stored configurations for monitors

none of the selected modes were compatible with the possible modes:
  Trying modes for CRTC 72"
then it tries each output mode for the display. This results in my minimum
display settings displayed (800x600 I believe). I am now running in low
resolution mode so the screen isn't shrunk, but I need a workaround or fix in
the near future or I will need to change my OS.
