Captain Chaos, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Screen image corrupted and jumbled up

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-nouveau” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

I have installed Kubuntu 10.04 beta1 64-bits on my system equipped
with two NVIDIA Geforce 8800 GTX cards. I have also installed all the
latest updates. A short while after logging in, the screen starts to
become more and more corrupted. It looks like small, random sections
of the screen get displaced a few pixels horizontally or vertically
  all over the screen.

I have attached a screenshot showing the problem. The problem seems to
get progressively worse. At first I thought the text in the terminal
and in the Konqueror window was not affected, but after minimizing and
restoring the Konqueror window in which I am typing this a few times
the contents of the terminal window, and of this Konqueror window,
  became jumbled up as well.

This problem makes Kubuntu completely unusable for me! The problem
becomes progressively worse, to the point where controls are so
jumbled up I can no longer make them out...
