Vectorio, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ .
If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-ati REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER Please note, given that the information from the prior release is already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. But with 10.04, I occasionally get a frozen screen. The computer still works, it reacts to keys and all, but the screen is blank. Pressing the power button shuts down the computer cleanly, and after restart it's ok again. There are no currently known scenarios in which this always happens; it's not reproducible / sporadic (and nasty). I have to go back to 9.10 for now. - Deactivating desktop visual effects did not resolve the problem - The graphic device is Mobility Radeon X1400 - With Ubuntu 10.10. I experience the same problem See Question #119317. It is not really a question any more, but a bug. Applies to latest Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10. --- Architecture: i386 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 DkmsStatus: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory EcryptfsInUse: Yes InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 10.04 LTS "Lucid Lynx" - Release i386 (20100429) MachineType: TOSHIBA Satellite A100 Package: xserver-xorg-video-ati 1:6.13.0-1ubuntu5 PackageArchitecture: i386 PccardctlIdent: Socket 0: no product info available PccardctlStatus: Socket 0: no card ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.32-25-generic root=UUID=08ff9457-d33f-4bc7-a661-8dc150e8e8e1 ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: LANG=en_US.utf8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-25.45-generic 2.6.32.21+drm33.7 Tags: lucid lucid Uname: Linux 2.6.32-25-generic i686 UserGroups: adm admin audio cdrom dialout dip fax floppy fuse lpadmin netdev plugdev sambashare tape video dmi.bios.date: 07/05/2006 dmi.bios.vendor: Phoenix Technologies LTD dmi.bios.version: 1.90 dmi.board.name: MPAD-MSAE Customer Reference Boards dmi.board.vendor: Intel Corporation dmi.board.version: Not Applicable dmi.chassis.asset.tag: No Asset Tag dmi.chassis.type: 1 dmi.chassis.vendor: No Enclosure dmi.chassis.version: N/A dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnPhoenixTechnologiesLTD:bvr1.90:bd07/05/2006:svnTOSHIBA:pnSatelliteA100:pvrPSAA9E-0JT00PS4:rvnIntelCorporation:rnMPAD-MSAECustomerReferenceBoards:rvrNotApplicable:cvnNoEnclosure:ct1:cvrN/A: dmi.product.name: Satellite A100 dmi.product.version: PSAA9E-0JT00PS4 dmi.sys.vendor: TOSHIBA glxinfo: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory system: distro: Ubuntu codename: lucid architecture: i686 kernel: 2.6.32-25-generic To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-ati/+bug/680291/+subscriptions -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages Post to : desktop-packages@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~desktop-packages More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
