Vectorio, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-ati REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
Screen freezes occasionally, Toshiba Satellite A100, Ubuntu 10.04

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-ati” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

  - This Toshiba Satellite works fine with Ubuntu 9.10. But with 10.04, I
occasionally get a frozen screen. The computer still works, it reacts to keys
and all, but the screen is blank. Pressing the power button shuts down the
computer cleanly, and after restart it's ok again. There are no currently known
scenarios in which this always happens; it's not reproducible / sporadic (and
nasty). I have to go back to 9.10 for now.
  - Deactivating desktop visual effects did not resolve the problem
  - The graphic device is Mobility Radeon X1400
  - With Ubuntu 10.10. I experience the same problem

See Question #119317. It is not really a question any more, but a bug.
Applies to latest Ubuntu 10.04 and 10.10.
