It's very important to have a simple possibility to define default bookmarks
for all users/profiles in system as existed in all Ubuntu versions until 10.10
This is needed for example for Lithuanian schools and other educational
institutions, which uses Ubuntu.

I've found some workaround - create symlink to
/usr/lib/firefox-X.X.X/defaults/profile/bookmarks.html (where X.X.X is firefox
version number, for example 7.0.1), but in this case I should update symlink
every time when I update firefox package to new upstream version :(
Look at code for baltix-default-settings package:
http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~baltix-members/baltix-default-settings/ubuntu/files/head:/usr/lib/firefox-7.0/defaults/profile/

Title:
No possibility to define default bookmarks for all users/profiles in
  system

Status in “firefox” package in Ubuntu:
  New
Status in Baltix GNU/Linux:
  New

Bug description:
  Binary package hint: firefox

In previous versions (before 4.0) one could add bookmarks.html to
/etc/firefox/profile to define default bookmarks for the system, but
this option is now disabled and there is no alternative proposed to
  define custom bookmarks.
