pc.maint, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-intel REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Title:
problems playing videos unless mouse pointer is constantly moved...

Status in “xserver-xorg-video-intel” package in Ubuntu:
  Incomplete

Bug description:
This problem was evident in 12.04, 12.10 and 13.04 (all using GNOME).

When watching video (online with Firefox or local using videos 3.6.3
or VLC 2.0.6), the video will stop and the soundtrack stutters (seems
to be in a short loop). This fault goes away if the mouse pointer is
constantly moving. At the same time that the video is stopped, the
clock in the Indicator Applet also stops. Still happens when using
  SNA.
